The Volkswagen Atlas is a popular and critically acclaimed midsize three-row SUV. It was introduced to the VW lineup for the 2018 model year, and while the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas continues that first generation, it arrives with several notable changes that set it apart from the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas. Perhaps the most significant changes are to the powertrains. The optional V6 engine has been retired. All Atlas models now come with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but it’s been revised to offer performance comparable to the outgoing V6 while being much more fuel efficient. Another notable update when comparing the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas vs. the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is that the standard equipment package has been expanded. All models now come with a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and front seats that are heated and cooled. Last year, VW retired the SEL R-Line. This year, it retires the SEL R-Line Black, meaning the R-Line appearance package is now exclusive to the SEL Premium R-Line. Volkswagen has also introduced a new Peak Edition option aimed at off-road enthusiasts.
