The Volkswagen Jetta debuted in 1980 as a well-appointed sedan, and it has boldly transitioned over the decades to progressively elevate its capabilities, style and equipment. The Jetta’s seventh generation launched in 2019, and it introduced exciting updates throughout the car. While there are a few improvements to the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta, those changes are not found on the exterior. Across both model years, the Jetta sedan has a forward-trending stance that is brought to life through its curved profile and the stunning, angled creases on the sides. At the front, the Jetta features a wide, hexagon-shaped grille that is bisected by a chrome accent bar. The large, pointed headlights are beautifully integrated with the grille. The bumper has a fluid feel as it flares outward at the sides. The exterior features across the four Jetta trims are unchanged. Some of these features are auto high beams, heated side mirrors, a sunroof, adaptive headlights, rain-sensing wipers and up to 17-inch wheels.

The primary differences between the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta and the prior year’s model are found in the cabins. Specifically, the USB outlets that are standard across all trims now have more power. In addition, remote engine start is now a standard feature for the Jetta SE. All trims continue to come with the Car-Net mobile app, an 8-inch digital instrumentation screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some or all of the higher trims for 2022 and 2023 add sport seats, an auto-dimming rear mirror, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a push-button starter, simulated leather or true leather upholstery, driver’s side memory settings, heated seats for both rows, a 10-color ambient light system, a Beats Audio system with nine speakers, wireless device charging, voice controls, a navigation system and others.
Volkswagen Jetta Mechanical specs
The performance of the 2022 VW Jetta is identical to that of the 2023 Jetta. Across all trim levels, the Jetta’s turbo 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine generates 158 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is the only drivetrain available. If you opt for the Jetta S or Sport, your sedan will have a six-speed manual transmission. The other trims have an eight-speed auto transmission. The Sport trim’s performance is also elevated by an XDS cross differential lock. The top SEL trim adds a drive mode selector.
