In the opener of our San Antonio review of the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, we compared it to the Tiguan, and these vehicles are quite similar outside the powertrain. The ID.4 wheelbase is an inch shorter at 108.9 inches. The ID.4 ground clearance is 6.0 inches, which is more than an inch lower to the ground, and the overall length is 180.5 inches, which is a bit more than 15 feet and about 6 inches shorter than the Tiguan. The ID.4 Standard has 19-inch alloy wheels. Starting with the ID.4 Pro, a hitch is standard if you opt for all-wheel drive. The ID.4 Pro S ads 20-inch wheels, LED adaptive headlamps and power liftgate with hands-free open and close, and the top model adds roof rails and exclusive wheels.

It features the aforementioned improved cabin materials and larger touch screen along with cloth and simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seating, zoned automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless charging pad and a seven-speaker sound system. Volkswagen ID.4 Mechanical specs
A common question we receive at Ancira Volkswagen of San Antonio is how you charge the ID.4, and that is one of the questions that inspired our San Antonio review of the vehicle. The good news is that you have several options and that all models now feature the more user-friendly charging interface. You can charge at home through a 120-volt connection, and while that is the slowest option, it is a convenient one to have. You can also charge at home via a 240-volt connection, which is the most common solution, and when traveling or commuting, you have access to DC fast-charging stations.

Powertrain – Volkswagen Dealership in San Antonio TX
The new ID.4 Standard model is one of the most exciting aspects of this 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 review. It has a smaller 60-kWh battery pack than the other models. It is only available with rear-wheel drive and has a maximum range of up to 208 miles, but that is plenty for many drivers. If you want the larger 82-kWh battery pack and the option of all-wheel drive, you can opt for any of the other trim levels. Range depends on trim level and drive layout but is between 240 and 260 miles.

2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Trim Levels in San Antonio TX
The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is an all-electric small crossover SUV and among the most popular electric vehicles among drivers in San Antonio. There are four core 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim levels—Standard, Pro, Pro S and Pro S Plus—and all are powered by a similar electric powertrain, but there are differences in terms of the drive layout and electric motor count. Updates for the 2023 model include the Standard, which is the newly introduced base trim. Volkswagen has upgraded the interior materials, and it has also expanded the standard equipment package to include a 12-inch display and automated parking.
ID.4 Standard Trim
All ID.4 models are small four-door crossovers with a 6.0-inch ground clearance and a 180.5-inch length—which is a hair more than 15 feet. The Standard is the first of the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim levels in San Antonio. It has a 62-kWh battery pack, and all models support Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 charging connections. The IQ.DRIVE suite includes a rearview camera system, automatic headlamps and high beams, adaptive cruise control, an automated parking system, lane centering, frontal collision alert with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot alert and rear cross-traffic alert. The base infotainment package includes a 12-inch touch screen with voice controls, VW Car-Net with onboard Wi-Fi, a seven-speaker audio system, a wireless charging pad and keyless entry. Notable cabin features include cloth upholstery with simulated leather bolsters, zoned automatic climate control, heated and power-adjustable front seats and a heated steering wheel.
ID.4 Pro Trim
The ID.4 Pro was the base model in the previous model year. The biggest difference is the larger battery pack that adds more than 65 miles of maximum range. Volkswagen introduced the Standard in order to make the price more appealing to those who don’t need or want this much range, but if you do, you also get the benefit of the adjustable cargo panels. The 30.3 cubic feet of dedicated space is the same, but the panels do let you make better use of that space.
ID.4 AWD Pro Trim
The AWD versions of the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim levels available in San Antonio are the same as their counterparts for the most part in terms of the standard and optional equipment. The main difference is that these models have two motors—one at each axle—as opposed to just one in the front. This decision basically comes down to sacrificing a bit of range for the increased power and all-wheel drive. In the case of the ID.4 AWD Pro in particular, you also get a heated windshield and trailer hitch included.
ID.4 S Trim
The ID.4 S is the third of the core 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim levels in San Antonio. The EPA-estimated range was not yet available as we wrote this breakdown, but it will be more than the ID.4 standard. This trim level adds premium LED headlamps and a hands-free power liftgate. It also upgrades the interior with perforated leatherette seating surfaces and a rear armrest with cupholders and a cargo pass-thru.
ID.4 AWD Pro S Trim
The ID.4 AWS Pro S is equipped like the ID.4 S for the most part. The main difference is that it has the larger battery and all-wheel drive.
ID.4 Pro S Plus Trim
The Plus is essentially the Gradient package from last model year. It adds a black roof with silver roof rails and special 20-inch wheels. Inside, it adds a premium sound system, heated rear seats and a surround-view camera system.
ID.4 AWD Pro S Plus
The last of the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim levels in San Antonio is the same as the Pro S Plus but adds all-wheel drive.
